BaaP

Business-as-a-Platform (BaaP) is a modern business model in which an online application connects parties to exchange ideas, goods, or services in a common fashion, monetizing the connection through fees or ads. The BaaP company does not often directly engage in the specific services offered. Instead, their value comes from facilitating the connection. A BaaP streamlines the end-user experience, coordinates actions between platform users, and standardizes transactional processes. BaaP models started to gain major footholds in the 2010s. Examples of BaaPs include digital-native companies like Spotify, Netflix, Airbnb, Amazon, Instacart, Uber, and Handy.
