Back-end

A back-end is the part of a computer system or application that is not directly accessed by the user, typically responsible for storing and manipulating data. Back-end is an umbrella term that could describe the database structure, server arrangement, containerization, or frameworks used in lower-level development. The back-end is diametrically opposite the front-end, which is responsible for generating the user interface. With the dawn of web APIs and cloud servers, many back-ends are now decoupled from their front-ends, allowing device-agnostic application development.
