Front-end

A front-end is the part of a computer system or application that is accessible to an end-user. The front-end is typically responsible for visually displaying data and providing means to interact with such data. The job of a front-end is to mask the complex behaviors of an application to increase its usability. Front-end is an umbrella term used when describing the user interface, front-end languages like HTML or JavaScript, or frameworks that aid in developing user-facing programs. The front-end is diametrically opposite the back-end, which is responsible for lower-level operations such as data manipulation, the database structure, or storage and server arrangement.
