Function-as-a-Service

Function as a Service (FaaS) platforms allow a company to create and manage an application without having to worry about the operational backend to support it. By alleviating infrastructure concerns, FaaS helps developers to focus more on simply building the application functionality. FaaS platforms enable a serverless architecture, meaning servers that host applications are automatically assigned when needed. This is opposed to storing apps and data on local machines or dealing with cloud server management on your own. FaaS is an approach often utilized when building microservices for specific functions. AWS Lambda or Google Cloud Functions are examples of FaaS platforms on the market.
