KPI

A Key Performance Indicator (KPI) is a data point that provides a window into the state of a business. KPIs are raw values that indicate the vitality of a product, software system, or an organization's operations. KPIs are essential as metrics help businesses make smarter decisions. KPIs are commonly used within enterprises as benchmarks for internal teams to meet operational goals. For example, an enterprise may track the average time for project completion as a KPI throughout the organization. KPIs are often used by analysts to mark the progress of software adoption and marketing initiatives. For example, a web API product team may track KPIs such as the number of daily developer onboards, or the number of weekly API calls, to measure engagement with the platform. KPIs are also leveraged in external-facing programs, enabling business leaders to identity software defects and improve customer satisfaction.
