Legacy Modernization is when enterprises modify or replace old components to make them newer and more agile. Legacy Modernization indirectly benefits an organization in three key ways: by reducing costs, creating reusable components, and improving efficiency. Legacy Modernization seeks to refactor traditional software infrastructure by taking a pre-existing monolithic architecture and making it more serviceable. It is the goal of such efforts to reimagine infrastructure in a more modular way. Such modernization efforts continually design reusable systems with API-led components. Unilever, Airbus, Wells Fargo, and many other institutions utilize APIs within its legacy modernization efforts to great effect.
