Payload

In data communications, a payload is the core data that is being transmitted. A payload is the intended package sent from a server to the requesting party. Such a package may contain data, files, or software transmittable in a digital format. A payload may be packaged and distributed utilizing a standardized data format recognized by both parties. This core transmitted data is different from headers, which help initiate the transaction process, and metadata, which refers to information about the transmission context.
