Rate Limiting

Rate limiting is a way to limit network traffic. In an API context, it refers to how many times an API can be called by a user or application within a given time period. Rate limiting can be employed as a strategy to help deal with malicious bots or Denial-of-service attacks. When a rate limit is exceeded, the application will fail.
