Source code

Source code refers to any collection of software that forms the basis of a computer program. Source code is written in a computer programming language that developers can understand. A computer takes this language and converts it into binary code, which can run commands and initiate functionalities if compiled correctly and executed. Source code is thus at the heart of all application software. Sometimes, source code is exposed, either for sample purposes or so that developers and users may identify its contents and modify the program. This is known as open-source.
