This is a Ruby Wrapper for integrating the cloudXLS API into an existing Ruby / Ruby on Rails application. The cloudXLS API accepts a CSV file and converts into an XLS or XLSX spreadsheet. It can also receive an XLS or XLSX file to be reformatted into an existing spreadsheet. Templates exist for creating more sophisticated spreadsheets that generate graphical components.
The spreadsheet application within Google Docs must be the most well known and most commonly used online spreadsheet. A bit like Google Search, the Google Docs spreadsheet dominates the online spreadsheet market. But also, a bit like Google Search, we occasionally we see companies coming along and trying out in an already dominated space. With the resource that Google has at its disposal this is a very tough market, but Hypernumbers, an Edinburgh based startup, is trying to do just that with its online "team" spreadsheet.
Late last week Google announced the release of version 3.0 of their Google Documents List Data API. This latest release addresses several feature requests filed by developers and also aims to improve speed and stability of the API itself (our Documents List Data API Profile). The most notable detail in this release is the ability to upload and download files in PDF.
