Single purpose API
WhyGo, a leading public video conference booking service, has released the WhyGo API to simplify booking further than it already has. WhyGo maintains over 3,000 video conferencing facilities around the globe.
Let's talk languages: in this case, not computer programming languages, but human languages. According to the 2009 edition of the SIL International publication Ethnologue: Languages of the World, the estimated 328 million English speakers in the world are dwarfed by the 1.2 billion people who speak Chinese as a first language. And though English has become the lingua franca of many tech industries, users still prefer to interact with products and services in their native tongue. No doubt this was one of the factors which led FlightStats, Portland-based provider of global flight tracking and airport information, to start offering its FlightStats API data in languages other than English.
FlightStats, leading provider of global flight information, has launched the FlightStats Flex APIs to put FlightStats' rich data in the hands of third-party developers. The product is a suite of APIs that allows developers access to a variety of flight/airport data (i.e. flight status in near real-time, flights in progress tracking, map-based tracking, flight schedules and availability, and airport information). FlightStats' data covers 99.5% of U.S. flights, and more than 80% of commercial flights worldwide.
