Geeklist offers developers an online haven to present their work, connect with other developers, and gain credit for achievements. Geeklist's lean staff proudly states that Geeklist was "[b]uilt by developers, for developers... we make geeks lives better every day." The API allows developers to create their own applications and services and retrieve any needed data from the Geeklist database. The API has remained in private beta since the Geeklist's original launch, but will open to the public with a 48-hour hackathon from November 30 - December 3.
Facing significant blowback from horrified organizations and users worldwide with respect to the Cambridge Analytica debacle, Facebook appears to be responding with swift action that will undoubtedly result in disgruntled developers and users.
When Nate Drouin, the founder and CEO of Fundraise.com, first sat down with Dustin Dulginow of Atlas Venture he had already finished development of the Fundraise.com Iphone/Ipad applications (the Fundraise.com API came later). That lunch meeting must have gone well because Atlas Venture later became one of the investors that contributed to a $1.2 million round of seed money for the startup.
