San Francisco-based Urban Mapping has released a new Mass Transit Proximity API that allows developers to easily tap into the company's Mass Transit Database. The RESTful API includes two search methods to retrieve results for Station Stops Near a Point and Station Stops Near an Address.
The latest release of desktop Twitter app TweetDeck launched with a ton of new features, which includes showing geolocated tweets. If a tweet includes the location meta-data, TweetDeck shows a tiny marker icon. Click the icon and you get a map of the location.
Even to the most casual observer it’s pretty apparent that developers will be accessing ever increasingly larger amounts of data via an API. The challenge is finding the right cloud-based platform capable of facilitating the integration of all that data at acceptable performance levels.
