Social networking news site Mashable and Yahoo! Search have extended the deadline for the BOSS Mashable Challenge. This contest, now running through October 5th, will award prizes to developers who create the best mashups with the Yahoo BOSS API. As many readers will recall from our earlier coverage on BOSS, the BOSS (Build Your Own Search Service) platform lets developers build their own full-blown custom search applications on Yahoo’s index of the Internet, the same infrastructure that underlies Yahoo Search.
The Google Cloud Vision API will no longer provide gender determination as part of its image analysis functionality. The announcement directly affects the ‘LABEL_DETECTION’ function of the API which prior to today would return labels such as ‘woman’ or ‘man’.
Bing announced version 13 of the Bing Ads API in April of 2019. With that announcement came the warning of version 12’s demise, which was scheduled for October 31, 2019. That time has come and past. Bing is now notifying developers that all version 12 endpoints will soon return error 303.
