Nielsen, the media-measurement juggernaut, announced that it is opening up its API for the first time. Nielsen made the announcement alongside many other groundbreaking launches and promotions as SXSW continues to heat up. With coverage in more than 100 countries, Nielsen maintains a treasure trove of data that developers have long been eager to get their hands on. With the API release, developers can begin to build applications directly off data that is generated and maintained by Nielsen.
When planning an event, aside from all the fun stuff like the programme, the décor and the like, the bottom line is getting people to turn up; and no-one's going to make an appearance if they don't even know it exists. So marketing the event is key, and that's where evvnt comes in. It's an online event marketing service that focuses on getting the word out there by broadcasting and publishing a user's event to multiple event listing sites. The evvnt API makes this functionality available to be integrated with other sites and applications.
The power of choice is a valuable part of our everyday lives, and with so many options at our disposal along with wildly different tastes and opinions, it's a good thing we have the freedom to choose. Based on this idea, it's easy to see how things like music charts, recommendations from film critics and general ratings on social media platforms may not be the opinions shared by everybody, and a recommendation system that could focus more on a person's specific preferences would be quite useful. That's pretty much what Tumbz has set out to do. The Tumbz API also makes it possible for this functionality to be integrated with other applications.
