Single purpose API
Sorry, No followers
The New York Times have just announced their latest web service API: TimesPeople. With this new API, the newspaper of record is giving developers access to their own Times-centric social network. This community feature, launched last spring, lets readers connect via their interest in the paper's content. The TimesPeople API now provides access to TimesPeople data for any user, including their profile, activities, news feed and social network (our TimesPeople profile).
Perhaps your most important online network of business contacts is now programmable. LinkedIn launched its API (our LinkedIn API profile), which allows developers to access a user's connections and anyone's profile data, in addition to several other features. Though some are saying "finally," it's clearly not too late for LinkedIn, who aims to be the professional networking platform.
Facebook launched v2.8 of its Graph API. Highlights include Custom Open Graph and the Marketing API updates. Facebook will deliver more Common Open Graph action types to relieve developers from having to create custom graph actions and objects. Marketing API updates give advertisers more control.
