A new API aims to capitalize on the social gaming phenomenon by giving app developers an even better way to monetize their audiences. Rather than simply selling upgrades and virtual goods, players can also incorporate gambling. Betable, which today is announcing the beta of its Betable API, handles the money, regulations and gambling logic.
Wacku has launched a non-profit open API in the broadcast media space: OpenMedia.io. The OpenMedia.io platform collects video and other media from human and machine-readable sources. In turn, the API updates users when need additions or changes have been made to the library. Currently most of its sources include YouTube videos, Podcasts, Web-TV series, and some movies. The OpenMedia.io team has invited the major broadcasters and studios to participate in its open project to no avail.
Social movie review web site FilmCrave recently released a new API (our FilmCrave API Profile) that provides developers with access to various types of content, including member movie reviews, movie plots, and movie ratings. Originally developed as an API for use by one of its business partners, FilmCrave decided to make the API publicly available in order to encourage third parties to integrate FilmCrave's content with other web sites.
