This Pinterest Java library created by Rahul Jiresal simulates Etsy staggered view in Android devices. To create this project, the author started by downloading the library in Eclipse, then creating a layout for the Pinterest card, and loading images from the web. A Pinterest layout for iOS is available on Rahul's site.
Singly has announced the open beta of its app connection platform. The platform consists of two main components (i.e. the App Fabric SDK and the Data Fabric infrastructure). The App Fabric simplifies social data sharing and shortens time to enable functionality such as friend finding and login across multiple apps. The Data Fabric allows developers to integrate features like synching, data querying, intelligent indexing, instant push, archiving, and more.
Every day Foursquare users create millions of check-ins using the location-sharing platform. Those may be only a small fraction of the traffic seen by its API, which we've estimated receives at least 5 billion requests per month. The company continues to expand the local data made available via its API, so developers of all sorts are finding it a rich resource for building their apps.
Filtering, curation, aggregation and relevance have long been touted as the next important steps for social media. In actual fact we've had curation services in the form of Digg, Reddit, StumbleUpon, Delicious and many more for a long time. However, the questions "How do I find the blog post, tweet, facebook update, photo or check-in that is most relevant to me?" and "How do I know I've not missed a really important piece of news?" are still asked daily. So, there still isn't a definite answer - or a definitive service. Cadmus started off as a "real-time filtering service" for a product called ViewPoint, but has grown into a self-standing application and the Cadmus API can help users and developers answer these questions.
