Jigsaw, has announced additions to their RESTful JSON and XML API as well as a developer program designed to enable developers to query, share, and resell Jigsaw’s community-contributed database of company data and contact information. They came onto the API scene in June 2008 with their declaration of "Data Independence Day", which focused on providing free access to their database of company information (more details at our Jigsaw API Profile).
Remember all the WS-* specifications that had garnered significant traction in the last decade among major software vendors? It seems that we might have seen the last of them. The Web Services Interoperability Organization (WS-I) recently announced that they had completed their work. All WS-I’s assets, operation and mission will now transition over to OASIS that will continue to drive open standards, as applicable. WS-I, which was started in 2002 had a clear goal of laying the groundwork for Web Services Interoperability and did so actively by developing profiles, sample apps and tools towards that.
Feedly, one of the most popular alternatives to the defunct Google Reader, has just announced that the Feedly API is now open to all developers. Last month, Feedly kicked off a paid subscription service, Feedly Pro, offering the first 5,000 subscribers a lifetime subscription for $99.99. Feedly raised almost $500,000 within the first eight hours.
