Most mashups try to solve a complex problem in an innovative way, and therefore save us all time. However, sometimes a mashup solves a very simple problem in an interesting way. Either way, I love to see innovative new uses of APIs like this one from Brian Beermann, which controls his garage door using the Twilio SMS API, some hardware and a lot of creativity.
When it comes to text messages, Twilio thinks pictures speak volumes. To that end, the cloud carrier has added MMS capabilities to and from Canadian numbers and via short code in the US, the company announced at its Twiliocon user conference today. In addition, Twilio is dropping the cost of its text messaging by 25% for US phone numbers.
Response Tap, leader in voice-centric marketing technology, recently released the Response Tap API. The Response Tap API enables developers to include Response Tap's number provisioning, call features, and reporting features within third party apps. Response Tap's proprietary software allows companies to track a caller's actions on a website before, during, and after a call. Such tracking technology provides better understanding of marketing activities.
