Google has released a new API for Fusion Tables, a Google Labs app that allows users to import, integrate, analyze, and visualize data in a variety of ways. The new API allows developers to programmatically perform a variety of tasks, including data import and export (more at our Google Fusion Tables API Profile). The API itself is integrated with several other Google APIs, including the Google Maps API and the Google Visualization API. In fact, developers can also leverage App Engine to easily develop data processing and analysis apps that easily integrate with various other Google APIs.
Business Profiles, online database of business registration information, provides access to its massive database via the Business Profiles API. The database contains business registrations (e.g. corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships, etc.) and additional data on shareholders, directors, public filings, and more.
The tagline of the Times Open blog is "All the news that's fit to printf()", and that clever play on the paper's motto gains more credence with each new API released. In February the Times introduced the Newswire API, which "provides an up-to-the-minute stream of published items" from the paper of record, and the New York State Legislature API for tracking the political maneuverings in Albany.
