The power of choice is a valuable part of our everyday lives, and with so many options at our disposal along with wildly different tastes and opinions, it's a good thing we have the freedom to choose. Based on this idea, it's easy to see how things like music charts, recommendations from film critics and general ratings on social media platforms may not be the opinions shared by everybody, and a recommendation system that could focus more on a person's specific preferences would be quite useful. That's pretty much what Tumbz has set out to do. The Tumbz API also makes it possible for this functionality to be integrated with other applications.
Forrst is a community for developers and designers to connect and collaborate. On Forrst users can share links, code, and in-progress projects, as well as discuss these things. This sort of community is always useful, as many eyes on projects can lead to spotting errors faster and making things more efficient for everyone involved. However, a simple website isn't all that's needed for true community-building these days. Developers and designers are the sort of people that use mobile devices extensively, and also the sort who love mashups and the like to save time and effort. For those people, Forrst has recently released the Forrst API, allowing access to Forrst through RESTful calls. And since that's the sort of feature developers want to see, they've been clamoring for Forrst's API, despite the site itself still in closed beta.
No-one likes a spammer, so 'high fives' for the development of more spam-obliterating solutions. Be it blogs, wikis, guestbooks or discussion boards, all have been the victims of spammers' endeavors to increase their search engine ranking. Comments are automatically posted in their dozens on multiple sites, and the process of manually deleting each of these is becoming increasingly tiresome. Comment SPAM Wiper (CSW) and it's SpamWipe API are designed to automatically protect a site from spam comments, posts, track-backs, ping-backs and the like. Hooray!
