The New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) has announced the opening of public voting for the NYC BigApps 2.0 Competition. The big apple has wasted no time in following last year's successful competition with 350 datasets from over 40 agencies. From the looks of the apps, the NYC tech community is already fired up about the competition.
With Lemonade Stand, users can search for things to buy in a location-based manner, or add their own listings of things they wish to sell. The application is currently available as a client for Android, with a possible Windows Phone 7 version on the way soon as well, from a 3rd party developer that released an early version. Its Lemonade Stand API allows other developers to either code their own clients or use it in mashups.
Kodak has launched a developer program that delivers an API to enable printing to retail locations. Mobile app developers can integrate the free API into photo-centric apps and print directly to Kodak's partner retailers. Currently, Bartell Drugs and Target represent the two US retailers to whom the API can point. In Europe, dm-drogerie sits as the first retail partner. Kodak envisions expanding its retail partner base so app developers can print everything from cards to calendars at over 100,000 locations around the world.
