The 'Big Data' service Infochimps now offers IP geolocation from Digital Element. Infochimps is best known for making huge datasets available as bulk downloads and through RESTful APIs. Digital Element has traditionally offered enterprise level services to large companies like AOL, CNN, and Ask.Com. Both companies hope that the Infochimps RESTful API interface and aggressive entry pricing will entice smaller companies to use the service.
At its very core, Framebase constitutes an API for video. The Framebase API enables developers to easily add video to an application without the hassles that usually accompany video. Whether an app needs to record, play, or upload a video; Framebase empowers apps with attractive video capabilities. The Framebase team created Framebase purely out of personal frustration with adding and maintaining video within other apps. Accordingly the team created Framebase: "Framebase is programmatic video."
Here is some interesting news that may impact developers using the Google Maps API (our Google Maps API profile). Google has recently made a couple of updates to their terms of service and have posted the the new terms of service here. There was an initial update made in early November, but one that lead to some debate and confusion about a couple of points, which in turn to a subsequent update. The net result is that the terms of service have been streamlined and some previous restrictions have been removed, including a restriction on the use of Google Maps in desktop applications.
