Quick: Name that professional network with more than 50 million members. Did you guess... Viadeo? LinkedIn is larger, with over 175 million members. But Viadeo has upped it is game with its acquisition of Pealk, which bills itself as the #1 head hunting App on the web. According to the press release, that search ability is what Viadeo is after.
GymPact, the startup that pays members to achieve their workout goals, announced integration with RunKeeper via the Health Graph API. GymPact users can now expand their qualifying workouts beyond the gym. GymPact co-founder, Yifan Zhang, "Ever since we launched, [GymPact] users have asked to count outdoor activities (runs, walks, bike rides) toward their Pact." The integration with Health Graph answers the users' demand as it pulls "RunKeeper GPS-tracked activities from the API so that [GymPact] can automatically count them toward GymPacter’s Pacts."
Instagram is one of those early adopter favorites that quickly crossed the chasm to more mainstream users, at least within my social network. Take that popularity, mix it with an apparent desire to buy shirts, and it was inevitable that someone would use the Instagram API to create wearable mashups. In fact, there are at least three such services, each with its own twist.
