MapQuest is inviting developers to take its MapQuest Static Map v5 API for a spin while in beta testing. The refreshed API has a handful of new features that should appeal to developers who rely on MapQuest's mapping tools. The beta is being offered for free through the end of 2016.
Earlier this week Google announced a new feature for its Maps Data API (check out our Maps Data API Profile) that will have a significant impact on how developers upload, and subsequently access, geospatial data in the cloud: data can now be uploaded to Google's infrastructure in either KML or CSV format.
Late last year, Google announced the deprecation of its Google Earth API. The initial cutoff date for API access was December 12, 2015. As the impending date moves closer, Google reported that it will extend the cutoff date until at least the end of this calendar year. No exact date was given.
