In a bid for a larger chunk of the unified communications market, CounterPath announced an API for its Bria for Windows communications platform. The Vancouver company produces softphones, which allow users to make Internet phone calls (think Skype and Google Voice) from a computer or a mobile device. Although a relatively small player in the market, Counterpath has a respectable 10 million downloads of its client. Its client consists of X-lite, free, and Bria for commercial use.
