With navigation units already seen on dashboards worldwide, TomTom hopes to expand its influence to mobile apps and web browsers. The company launched the TomTom Maps Toolkit API and other services it hopes will encourage innovation along the spectrum of independent developers to enterprise customers. Mapillary has launched an open-source SDK for its street-level image platform. The SDK allows users to process and upload images to the platform. The more images uploaded, the more up to date and more robust maps become within third party apps. Currently, over 390 million images have been uploaded.
