Hellotxt, the service that lets you simultaneously update your status and read your friends' status across many services, has now released an API. There is a long list of microblogging and social networking sites that Hellotxt interacts with, ranging from Facebook and LinkedIn to of course Twitter and FriendFeed (see their home page below).
I'vRead is a service for keeping track of what books you've read. Seems simple, but it can be rather useful for those of us obsessed with reading like myself. Its web site offers the service for free, and using it is already pretty simple. There isn't even another account to register for. All a user needs to do is add a specific tag, @ivread, to a Twitter post mentioning the book. It allows for some basic searches of the data on their website, but the I'vRead API is where the service really shines.
Twitter has been working to protect their platform from spam and abuse by imposing additional restrictions on new developers. Twitter seems ready to double down on these efforts, as the company today announced that it will soon adjust the rate limits for two Twitter API endpoints.
