Domain registrar Name.com announced this week the general availability of version 4 of its API.
The API can be used to perform domain name lookups, as well as register, renew, transfer, and manage domains. It also provides functionality for setting up website redirects and email forwarding.
Name.com, which has offered an API for the past seven years, says that the new version of its API is RESTful and "much faster and easier to use."
According to Dave McBreen, Name.com's lead developer, the company made implementation of its v4 API a priority and relied heavily on feedback from customers with a focus on boosting usability and simplicity. "We've enlisted the whole company to make our API more functional and user-friendly," he explained. In addition to overhauling its API, Name.com has also improved its developer documentation and published code samples to help developers more quickly integrate.
On February 8, Name.com will be hosting an APIzza Party at its Denver offices as well a webinar to showcase its new API.
