Earlier this year Founding Partner IBM, along with Creator David Clark Cause, announced the annual Call for Code Global Challenge. The initial intention was that Call for Code participants would use open source technology to help fight climate change. This vision has been expanded to include a call for developers to create solutions aimed at solving the COVID-19 crisis.
The Challenge is ongoing with submissions being accepted through July 31, 2020. IBM is encouraging developers to utilize technology like Red Hat OpenShift, IBM Cloud, IBM Watson, and IBM Blockchain in the development of their applications. The Challenge provides three rough categories for COVID-19 aid applications:
“We’re asking the world's developers and subject matter experts to help tackle this pandemic by increasing awareness through communications, and by limiting the spread of infectious diseases through crisis communication, remote education, and community cooperation.”
Developers that are interested in taking part in the Challenge should check out the Call for Code Challenge website.
