Best New Mashups: Best Mashups of 2011

2011 was another great year for mashups. At ProgrammableWeb we saw over 900 new mashups added to our directory. Popular app categories such as mapping, search and shopping continued to lead the way. This year however saw social apps continue their rapid growth from the last couple of years. As 2011 comes to a close, we take a look back at some of the best and most popular mashups that were submitted.

Bassicly - Bassicly is an App that utilises multiple APIs to provide a service that allows people to listen to bass orientated / electronic music in a seamless interface. Bassicly was created as a result of frustrations with listening to the vast amount of musical content available on YouTube but not having an easy to use interface to do it with. Twitter/Stock Sentiment - This site was created to answer a question. We know that people buy and sell stocks based on rumor. DoAt (do@) - DoAt (do@) is a new mobile search engine for the iPhone. DoAt is an open Platform for answering search queries and any developer can submit a web app to answer any type of query (music, movies, weather, restaurants, etc.). SMS Garage Door - A Twilio powered garage door. It can tell if the garage door is open or closed and it can also activate the garage door opener if desired.
