Every day, the ProgrammableWeb team is busy, updating its three primary directories for APIs, clients (language-specific libraries or SDKs for consuming or providing APIs), and source code samples. Fourteen APIs have been added to the ProgrammableWeb directory in categories including Podcasts, Artificial Intelligence, and Security. Featured today are APIs for fraud detection by Simility, and conversational bots from Amazon Web Services Lex. Here's a rundown of the latest additions.
Amazon Lex is built on the same deep learning technologies that Alexa is, and allows developers to create conversational interfaces and conversational bots. The Amazon Lex REST API allows developers to access and integrate the functionalities of Amazon Lex with other applications and to create new applications. Amazon Lex is currently only available through a preview and interested developers can register for access. This API is listed under the Artificial Intelligence category. Simility is a service that combines human analysis and machine learning to assess the fraud risk of a device based on its behavior and characteristics. Developers utilizing the Simility API can detect fraudulent behavior in emails, images, comments, and transactions, and is useful for securing banking, payments, and other financial applications. Monaca provides tools for developing HTML5 hybrid mobile applications. The Monaca Cloud API provides a browser-based development environment as a service. It provides Cordova development from a Web browser without any setup, and allows developers to create, compile, build and transpile projects. Otto Radio provides podcast discovery and listening applications and technology. Their recently released Otto Everywhere API allows developers of IoT applications and content distributors to integrate personalized audio content from top news outlets and podcast publishers. With the FundraisingBox API, developers can enable applications for non-profits to collect donations via cellphone, QR-code, or bitcoin.
