Every day, the ProgrammableWeb team is busy, updating its three primary directories for APIs, clients (language-specific libraries or SDKs for consuming or providing APIs), and source code samples. If you have new APIs, clients, or source code examples to add to ProgrammableWeb’s directories, we offer forms (APIs, Clients, Source Code) for submitting them to our API research team. If there’s a listing in one of our directories that you’d like to claim as the owner, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Six new APIs have been added to the ProgrammableWeb directory today in Mapping, Transportation, and Optimization categories, among others. Here’s a summary of what is new.
CartoDB is a mapping and geospatial platform. The CartoDB Maps API offers database, data, and location services for developers interested in generating maps working with the JSON format. With the CartoDB Maps API, anonymous maps and named maps can be customized using SQL and CSS parameters.
This Ellis Act eviction data map of San Francisco was created using CartoDB. Full animated map available at Anti-Eviction Mapping Project
MobiCart helps eCommerce website providers to create mobile applications. Users can create native iPhone, iPad, and Android apps as well as HTML5 web apps that are accessible from a mobile browser. The MobiCart Store API provides methods for store settings, shipping, tax, countries, and states. It’s in JSON and XML formats and accessible with an API key. We’ve primarily categorized the MobiCart API under the eCommerce category. See ProgrammableWeb’s complete list of eCommerce APIs.
OrderCloud provides real-time order fulfillment software. This Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform aids in each step of the order process. With the OrderCloud API, users can collect orders from a mobile app, website, or call center automatically, tag and organize inventory, process payments, retrieve and update user profiles, enable deliveries, and more. This API is listed in the Ordering category. See ProgrammableWeb’s complete list of Ordering APIs.
Waynaut lets users find the best way to their destination by combining traditional methods of European transportation such as bus, metro, or taxi with innovative methods such as ridesharing. The Waynaut API provides a RESTful JSON interface so developers have access to door-to-door search and trip planning integration.

minme is “optimization as a (µ)service.” The minme API makes advanced algorithms offered as a microservice available to developers who need to solve optimization problems from within their application and do not want to develop the algorithm themselves. Since minme runs as a service, devices with limited processing power will not be overloaded with optimization tasks. This API is listed under the Optimization category. See ProgrammableWeb’s complete list of Optimization APIs.
Uptime provides notifications when a site is down. It supervises site performance every minute from 30 locations on 5 continents. The Uptime API, which is currently in beta stage, offers REST protocol and API key authentication to interact with monitoring, performance, and website management services. Get user, monitoring, dashboard, and alert information with the API. We’ve primarily categorized the Uptime API under the Monitoring category. See ProgrammableWeb’s complete list of Monitoring APIs.
