Daily API RoundUp: Clef, BaseHealth, Instagram Libraries

Every day, the ProgrammableWeb team is busy, updating its three primary directories for APIs, clients (language-specific libraries or SDKs for consuming or providing APIs), and source code samples. If you have new APIs, clients, or source code examples to add to ProgrammableWeb’s directories, we offer forms (APIs, Clients, Source Code) for submitting them to our API research team. If there’s a listing in one of our directories that you’d like to claim as the owner, please contact us at editor@programmableweb.com.

We’ve added 6 APIs to the ProgrammableWeb directory today in Healthcare, Authentication, eCommerce, and other categories. Also added were client libraries for use with the Instagram API.

APIs

BaseHealth provides software for healthcare assessments. The BaseHealth API allows developers to integrate access to anonymous assessments, drug responses, food responses, and more — in order to generate evidence-based risk factors and individual health profiles. We’ve primarily categorized the BaseHealth API under the Healthcare category. See ProgrammableWeb’s complete list of Healthcare APIs.

Clef API allows developers to integrate Clef's two-factor authentication service into their applications. This service uses no passwords or tokens. The end user simply holds their smartphone in front of their computer screen to authenticate. Clef also uses Apple’s Touch ID to identify user fingerprints.

We’ve primarily categorized the Clef API under the Authentication category. See ProgrammableWeb’s complete list of Authentication APIs.

Bindo is an e-commerce platform that provides users with real-time store data, 24/7 payment gateway access, and order-tracking services. The Bindo API allows developers to integrate access to their stores, products, and payments into third-party applications. We’ve primarily categorized the Bindo API under the eCommerce category. See ProgrammableWeb’s complete list of eCommerce APIs.

The Render API by MixerFactory leverages the company’s video rendering engine to add video editing capabilities to web and mobile apps. Input video, images, or sound — and with a video structure description in XML — the Render API will output videos in MOV, MP4, or FLV. Accepted input formats include: FLV, WMV, TIFF, JPG, WAV, MP3, PNG, and GIF. We’ve primarily categorized the MixerFactory Render API under the Video category. See ProgrammableWeb’s complete list of Video APIs.

Instart Logic was designed to deliver mobile cloud applications faster than a content delivery network (CDN). The Instart Logic API allows developers to access Instart Logic’s cloud application delivery services programmatically. Users can do anything with the API that they can do through the customer portal web interface, and then some. We’ve primarily categorized the Instart Logic API under the Content Management category. See ProgrammableWeb’s complete list of Content Management APIs.

Grafana features a Graphite query editor, an InfluxDB query editor, rich graphing, mixed styling, and more. The Grafana API allows developers to interact with a metrics dashboard and graph editor for Graphite, InfluxDB, and OpenTSDB. API methods allow users to save dashboards, create users, update data sources, and more.

The Grafana API is listed under the Visualizations category. See ProgrammableWeb’s complete list of Visualizations APIs.

Clients

Shopify is an shopping cart system used in e-commerce. The Shopify Mobile Buy iOS SDK by Shopify is written in Objective-C, and is the iOS SDK for Shopify Mobile Buy. Developers can access and integrate the functionality of Shopify Mobile Buy and Shopify’s API with other applications and iOS devices through this SDK.

Instagram is a popular mobile photo-sharing service. Users take photos and can share them with Instagram contacts or friends or on other social networks such as Facebook. The Instagram API provides access to user authentication, friend connections, photos, and other app elements, including uploading new media. Four client libraries for use with the API have been added to the directory. They are:

Instagram JavaScript Library by Tomomi Imura (girliemac) can transform pixel data into a canvas that can be downloaded as JPEG, PNG, or WEBP.

Instagram iOS Library by Huong Do can trim videos using CocoaPods. This could be useful for creating aggregated visual media mimicking the optical properties of Instagram.

Instagram iOS Library by Brad Kendall enables users to download images from a hashtag for use in iPhone and iPad applications.

Instagram Go Library by Akeda Bagus can access the Instagram Search API for usage and retrieval.
