Daily API RoundUp: Docker Secrets, OpenFinTech, DataNerds

Every day, the ProgrammableWeb team is busy, updating its three primary directories for APIs, clients (language-specific libraries or SDKs for consuming or providing APIs), and source code samples. If you have new APIs, clients, or source code examples to add to ProgrammableWeb’s directories, we offer forms (APIs, Clients, Source Code) for submitting them to our API research team. If there’s a listing in one of our directories that you’d like to claim as the owner, please contact us at editor@programmableweb.com.

Fifteen APIs have been added to the ProgrammableWeb directory in categories including Finance, Data Mining, and Artificial Intelligence. Highlights today include an API for automobile diagnostics and an API for cancer research clinical trials. Here's a look at what is new.

APIs

The Luminati Proxy Manager API is a forward HTTP/HTTPS proxy that can accelerate, compress, rotate, distribute, manage, monitor, report, log, and debug traffic to proxies located around the world. Luminati's P2P network includes more than 17 million residential IPs that are not identified as proxies/Tor. The API is listed under the Data Mining category. See ProgrammableWeb's complete list of Data Mining APIs.

OpenFinTech.io helps financial companies communicate in one language. The OpenFinTech API can be used to integrate open source financial data about companies, brand logos, currencies and issuers, banks, branches, payment service providers, and more into commercial applications. This API is listed under the Financial category. See ProgrammableWeb's complete list of Financial APIs.

DataNerds is an API system for delivering real estate data to applications. With the API evelopers can send HTTP requests to receive GeoJSON, JSON, and XML responses about site, structure, ownership, tax, assessment, mortgages, market status, estimated market value, permit history, and comparables from 130 million properties in the United States. The DataNerds API is listed under the Real Estate category. See ProgrammableWeb's complete list of Real Estate APIs.

Solcast provides solar energy forecasts. The Solcast REST API delivers forecast, solar power estimates, radiation, and cloud information data. Developers can obtain PV power output forecast, access solar radiation estimates, access real-time data in Australia, and apply analytics for individualized forecasts with this API. We've listed the Solcast API in the Solar category. See ProgrammableWeb's complete list of Solar APIs.

Bloom Studio provides access to healthcare data where all EMRs are interoperable and where vendors can't hold data. They help to make healthcare technology accessible by connecting patients, providers, and payers. BloomAPI is available for simplifying patient medical record releases. This API allows users to release records digitally, by fax, and by mail, and is 100% HITECH and HIPAA compliant. The API is listed under the Medical Records category. See ProgrammableWeb's complete list of Medical Records APIs.

Okta Okta is a fully standards-compliant OAuth 2.0 authorization server and a certified OpenID Provider. The OAuth 2.0 APIs provide API security via scoped access tokens, and OpenID Connect provides user authentication and an SSO layer which is lighter and easier to use than SAML. This API is listed under the OAuth category. See ProgrammableWeb's complete list of OAuth APIs.

Exponent allows developers to build applications in JavaScript. Developers can get indirect access to the Exponent API via SDKs. As an open source UI initiative, developers can integrate contacts, camera, and social login into Android and iOS applications. The API is listed under the Application Development category. See ProgrammableWeb's complete list of Application Development APIs.

Transavia Airlines is a Netherlands-based low-cost air travel operator with routes throughout the European and North African regions. The Transavia Flight Offer API provides access to information about airports such as country and code of location and nearest airports. The API generates data based pm either geographic coordinates or neighboring airports. The Transavia Routes API provides access to information on origin and destination points of all routes within the airlines' vast route network. Its integration allows developers to provide data filtering capabilities for route-specific information. These APIs are listed under the Air Travel category. See ProgrammableWeb's complete list of Air Travel APIs.

The National Cancer Institute (NCI) is seeking to optimize patients' and oncologists' accessibility to cancer clinical trials with an API. The National Cancer Institute Clinical Trials API (currently in beta) allows scientists and researchers to build useful applications that will expedite the adoption of tailored clinical trial information solutions in target communities. This API is listed under the Medicine category. See ProgrammableWeb's complete list of Medicine APIs.

Docker is a open application development platform for sharing apps and repositories and automating development workflows. The Docker Secrets API provides a way for developers to manage any sensitive data which a container needs at runtime but shouldn't be stored in the image or in source control. Manage usernames and passwords, TLS certificates and keys, SSH keys and more. The API provides a layer of abstraction between the container and a set of credentials. The Docker Secrets API is listed under the Security category. See ProgrammableWeb's complete list of Security APIs.

Deepomatic provides image recognition intelligence to developers via several APIs. The Deepomatic Urban Scene Detection API allows applications to recognize the different pieces of images present in scene by simply sending the image's URL or base64.

The Deepomatic APIs are listed under the Artificial Intelligence category. See ProgrammableWeb's complete list of Artificial Intelligence APIs.

The IBM Bluemix Car Diagnostic API translates OBD error codes into a human readable form, making it easier to assess the status of a vehicle. OBD errors are codes for problems that typically are happening if a vehicle's "Check Engine" light is on. This API supports all error codes that can be read with ELM327 OBD dongles, as well as error codes specific to car manufacturers. The Car Diagnostic database is professionally maintained and includes more than 17,000 error codes. This API is listed under the Auto category. See ProgrammableWeb's complete list of Auto APIs.

The Word Associations Network API allows developers to embed the ability to find associations for a word or phrase into their mobile apps or Web services. Words are grouped by semantics, meaning, and psychological perception. The Word Associations Network API currently supports English, French, Spanish, German, and Russian vocabulary. This API is listed under the Natural Language Processing category. See ProgrammableWeb's complete list of Natural Language Processing APIs.
