Daily API RoundUp: Google Cloud Vision, Easyship, IVA Celebrities

Every day, the ProgrammableWeb team is busy, updating its three primary directories for APIs, clients (language-specific libraries or SDKs for consuming or providing APIs), and source code samples. If you have new APIs, clients, or Source Code examples to add to ProgrammableWeb's directories, we offer forms (APIs, Clients, Source Code) for submitting them to our API research team. If there's a listing in one of our directories that you'd like to claim as the owner, please contact us at editor@programmableweb.com.

Seven APIs have been added to the ProgrammableWeb directory in categories including Shipping, Artificial Intelligence, and Mapping. Highlights include the Lengoo API which allows applications to be integrated with human translation services, and GRPC versions of Google Cloud Vision and Video Intelligence APIs.

Easyship is an integrated shipping Platform that supports over 100 shipping solutions that offers discounted rates and is available in the US, Hong Kong and Singapore. The Easyship API is an end-to-end service that retreives shipping rates, calculates import taxes & duties, allows for purchasing shipping labels, requesting pickups, and tracking packages. The API allows online sellers, marketplaces and software platforms to ship to any destination in the world, without the need for carrier accounts, with all commercial invoices and declarations automatically generated. The Easyship API is listed under the Shipping category. See ProgrammableWeb's complete list of Shipping APIs.

Amazon Alexa home voice assistant allows developers to create custom skills that can now be enabled with the Alexa Device Address API. The API allows developers to obtain the customer's permission to use address data associated with their Alexa device. Developers can use the address data to provide key functionality for the skill, or to enhance the customer experience. This API uses the address that the customer has entered manually. It does not have the capability of testing for GPS or other location-based data. This API is listed under the Artificial Intelligence category. See ProgrammableWeb's complete list of Artificial Intelligence APIs.

Lengoo is an international translation platform. The service uses algorithms to find the most suitable human translator for a customer. The Lengoo API allows developers to access and integrate the functionality of Lengoo with other applications. The API allows for real-time translations and retrieving price quotes for translation services and is currently in alpha. Interested developers can sign up for more information on the Lengoo website. We've listed this API in the Translation category. See ProgrammableWeb's complete list of Translation APIs.

The Google Maps Directions API calculates directions for traveling between locations programmatically. Users can get directions for different modes of transportation, such as transit, driving, walking, and cycling. Developers can also use waypoints to calculate routes that pass through additional locations and estimate travel times. This API is not new, but it is new to our directory, and is listed under the Mapping category. See ProgrammableWeb's complete list of Mapping APIs.

The Internet Video Archive (IVA) provides movie trailers, video game trailers, TV previews, images, metadata and editorial services. The Internet Video Archive Celebrity API provides access to more than 1.8 million profiles of people including alternate names, biographies, birthdates, movie, and filmographics. It is designed to generate celebrity images with rich facial analysis features such as age, detection, emotions, face, landmarks, pose, and position. The API is listed under the Celebrities category. See ProgrammableWeb's complete list of Celebrities APIs.

The Google Cloud Video intelligence API was first released in March 2017. The API uses Machine Learning to make videos searchable and easy to find by extracting metadata that can be used to index video content. The API annotates videos stored on Google Cloud Storage identifying key entities within the video and as they occur. We've added the gRPC version of the Google Cloud Video intelligence API, now in beta, to our directory. We've also added the gRPC version of the Google Cloud Vision API, which classifies images into categories, detects faces and objects, and reads printed words in images. The Cloud Vision API has recently been updated with enhancements such as increased vocabulary and the addition of Google Image Search-powered web detection. Both APIs are listed in our Machine Learning category.
