Daily API RoundUp: Hypothes.is, SmartyStreets, Capital One, iDigBio, hyScore.io

Every day, the ProgrammableWeb team is busy, updating its three primary directories for APIs, clients (language-specific libraries or SDKs for consuming or providing APIs), and source code samples. If you have new APIs, clients, or source code examples to add to ProgrammableWeb’s directories, we offer forms (APIs, Clients, Source Code) for submitting them to our API research team. If there’s a listing in one of our directories that you’d like to claim as the owner, please contact us at editor@programmableweb.com.

Fourteen APIs have been added to the ProgrammableWeb directory in categories including Science, Banking, Mapping and Annotations. Highlights today include the Hypothes.is API for accessing a platform that aims to annotate the web. Here's a rundown of the latest additions.

APIs

i-Boating is a provider of ENC (Electronic Navigation Charts), Bathymetric maps, & depth maps for inland waterways/lakes. i-Boating GPS Nautical Charts and Fishing Maps API allows developers to use ENCs as a base map for their web applications. ENC maps can also be integrated into native apps using their platform specific SDK. This API is listed under the Mapping category. See ProgrammableWeb's complete list of Mapping APIs.

One Codex is a platform for microbiologists to rapidly assess their samples. It provides access to the world's largest index of bacterial, viral, and fungal genomes. The One Codex API allows developers to integrate a genomic search and data platform into their own applications. Use the API to index, search, and compare complex samples. One Codex API is listed under the Science category. See ProgrammableWeb's complete list of Science APIs.

iDigBio stand for Integrated Digitized Biocollections. It is a national online repository and community for biological/paleontological collection data. Scientists utilize iDigBio to digitize and share data and images for millions of biological specimens. The iDigBio API allow access to biodiversity collection data, with methods for curating and searching data, research tools, and dashboards to access information about millions of biological specimens. This API is also listed under the Science category.

Get WHOIS data in either JSON or XML format with the WhoisJson API. Data for all domains can be obtained quickly and is updated every week. WhoisJson API is listed under the Domains category. See ProgrammableWeb's complete list of Domains APIs.

Capital One 360 Bank Account Starter API enables users to open 360 Savings Accounts. An app can pass in the applicant's information, Capital One performs all the eligibility / identity checks for the applicant, and then returns a status and new account number and routing number if the account has been created. This API is listed under the Banking category. See ProgrammableWeb's complete list of Banking APIs.

Verify Bank Account.com API allows users to verify that a bank account is valid based on its sort code (routing number), and account number, or alternatively based on BIC / SWIFT and IBAN numbers. It is based on the same bank verification technology as Stripe, and is functional in 22 countries, including the USA, UK and Australia. The API is also listed under the Banking category.
