Daily API RoundUp: Thomson Reuters Open PermID, Blockspring, Plenigo

Every day, the ProgrammableWeb team is busy, updating its three primary directories for APIs, clients (language-specific libraries or SDKs for consuming or providing APIs), and source code samples. If you have new APIs, clients, or Source Code examples to add to ProgrammableWeb’s directories, we offer forms (APIs, Clients, Source Code) for submitting them to our API research team. If there’s a listing in one of our directories that you’d like to claim as the owner, please contact us at editor@programmableweb.com.

Eight APIs were added to the ProgrammableWeb directory in categories such as Spreadsheets and Notifications. We summarize the new additions here.

Blockspring is a Library of user-generated coding functions that developers can insert directly into their apps and tools. It allows users to access web services through spreadsheets. The Blockspring REST API allows developers to manage users, manage forms, access web services, import spreadsheets.

Thomson Reuters, a world leader in intelligent information services, has launched Open PermID, a set of APIs and tools for developers to access Thomson Reuters’ massive core entity data set. The Thomson Reuters Open PermID helps users to extract high quality linked data. The APIs are categorized under Natural Language Processing and include:

Open Calais Tagging API offers content creators a way tag people, places, companies, facts, and events to increase conent value, accessibility and interoperability. The Calais natural language processing engine analyzes and tags your input files so a consuming app can easily pinpoint relevant data and leverage intelligence contained in text.

Open PermID Record Matching API allows developers to match their own entity data to Thomson Reuters identifiers. Users can reconcile data with Thomson Reuters data, and use obtained identifiers to add onto records from Thomson Reuters via the search API. Permid.Org record matching is the first step to integrating your existing data with Thomson Reuters PermID.

Open PermID Entity Search API brings developers tools to retrieve entities by including in the request the PermID service itself or by searching for an entity by name, ticker, or RIC (Reuters Instrument Code). The PermID Service avails the permanent ID of 3.5 million organizations, 240K equity instruments and 1.17 million equity quotes to users from the Thomson Reuters core entity data set.
