Daily API RoundUp: USDA National Agriculture Statistics, Lifepoint, MindTouch

Every day, the ProgrammableWeb team is busy, updating its three primary directories for APIs, clients (language-specific libraries or SDKs for consuming or providing APIs), and source code samples. If you have new APIs, clients, or source code examples to add to ProgrammableWeb’s directories, we offer forms (APIs, Clients, Source Code) for submitting them to our API research team. If there’s a listing in one of our directories that you’d like to claim as the owner, please contact us at editor@programmableweb.com.

We’ve added 8 APIs to the ProgrammableWeb directory today in Agriculture, Support, and Sports categories. Also added were SDKs for use with Payeezy payments solutions.

APIs

Three new USDA APIs have been added to the directory. The USDA has included these APIs as well as opened new data sets to participants of their Innovation Challenge for Food Resilience.

VegScape is a vegetation monitoring system via an interactive mapping platform that allows navigation and downloading of data. The National Agricultural Statistics Service VegScape API provides access to geospatial data of daily, weekly averaged, and biweekly averaged vegetation conditions across the USA.

The National Agricultural Statistics Service CropScape API provides access to the cropland data layer. This layer is geo-referenced, crop-specific, and created using satellite imagery. The API is available in both RESTful and SOAP forms, returning data in Text, CSV, and JSON formats.

The National Agricultural Statistics Service Quick Stats API, provided through the USDA, provides access to the information in the Quick Stats database, an on-line database containing official published aggregate estimates related to U.S. agricultural production. Each request can return up to 50,000 records and supported formats include JSON, XML, and CSV. See ProgrammableWeb’s complete list of Agriculture APIs.

MindTouch organizes and presents Help content so that customers can learn about a client’s product. The MindTouch API allows developers to programmatically access MindTouch’s cloud-based services for helping clients improve their Help content. We’ve listed this API under the Support category. See ProgrammableWeb’s complete list of Support APIs.

Sportradar is a provider of sports and betting-related live data, odds solutions, and fraud detection services. The Sportradar MLB API  allows developers to integrate daily Major League Baseball box scores; league, team, and player statistics; play-by-play information; schedules; and more.

The Sportradar Odds API lets developers integrate their applications with the Sportradar Odds database, using RESTful methods. The API provides developers with odds for NFL (football), MLB (baseball), NBA (basketball), NHL (hockey), NCAA (college football), and NCAAMB (college basketball).

We’ve primarily categorized these APIs under the Sports category. See ProgrammableWeb’s complete list of Sports APIs.

Lifepoint Informatics is an information technology provider that specializes in healthcare and clinical data interoperability. Two APIs provided by Lifepoint Informatics have been added to the ProgrammableWeb directory under the Medical category. See ProgrammableWeb’s complete list of Medical APIs.

A CPT (Current Procedural Technology) code is a 5-digit code for reporting medical services. The Lifepoint Medical Necessity Validation API is a lightweight web service that allows users to check CPT code(s).

The ICD-10 is a classification list by the World Health Organization (WHO), to code and classify mortality data from death certificates. The Lifepoint ICD-9 to ICD-10 Code Conversion API provides developers with software tools and services to help translate the ICD-9 codes embedded in an organization’s systems and documents into the correct ICD-10 code. Access to the API is available upon further request. The conversion from ICD-9 to ICD-10 takes place October 1, 2015.

Clients

Payeezy provides a way to accept payments in mobile apps and e-commerce websites. With the Payeezy API, developers can accept credit cards, debit cards, Apple Pay In-App payments, Paypal, loyalty cards, and other payment types. The company provides three SDKs for developers’ use.

Payeezy iOS SDK helps developers integrate Payeezy solutions into Apple Pay. The writer of the SDK, Atul, has made a PDF guide available in GitHub, which demonstrates how to install, create payment tokens, and integrate with Apple Pay.

Payeezy Android SDK contains the minimum technical requirements such as OS 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and higher, an emulator, a project to compile, the latest version of Android studio, and Java JRE. Developers should be ready with registration, API key, and the SDK downloaded to get started with a project.

Payeezy JavaScript Library includes a sandbox to test credit card, eCheck, and Gift Card features. Developers are invited to contribute and reach support@payeezy.com.
