Facebook Adds IGTV Data to the Instagram Graph API

Facebook has recently announced the addition of IGTV media and metrics to V10.0 of the Instagram Graph APITrack this API. Developers who have already upgraded to the latest version of the API will immediately be able to access the new datasets.

IGTV is a standalone application that Instagram developed to allow for more immersive long-form content. Whereas users can share short video clips via stories on Instagram, IGTV allows users to publish content of over one minute and take advantage of full-screen viewing. The enhancement to the Instagram Graph API is designed to be as seamless as possible. There are no new endpoints, no need to update permissions, and developers do not need to submit their applications through additional App Review.

It’s important to note that for IGTV data to be available via the API users will need to have “Post a Preview” or “Share Preview to Feed” enabled during the publishing process. The corresponding data will be available on endpoints associated with media retrieval, comment moderation, hashtag search, and more.
