Facebook will host a Marketing API Hackathon on April 3. Facebook invites teams of designers and developers to build solutions on top of its marketing platform. Interested parties can attend with preformed teams of two to five, or create a team on site. Participants will gain an excellent opportunity to meet with Facebook engineers, product managers and business specialists that manage, improve and launch programs around the marketing platform.
The hackathon will commence at 9 a.m. at Facebook HQ in Menlo Park, Calif. Every participant will receive $100 in Facebook Ads credit, swag, and plenty of food and beverages. Additionally, a grand prize winner and an audience favorite will be selected. Although participants and teams can work on solutions prior to the event, teams will have five minutes to present their work at the end of the hackathon and can only present work conducted during the hackathon.
The grand prize winner will be selected according to three criteria: impact, innovation and technical achievement. Judges will ask, does the application have true impact and solve an advertiser's problem? Is the solution novel and solve a problem in a creative way? Did the team solve a difficult technical problem? The audience favorite will be the one that gets the most votes from those who watch the demos.
Space is limited, so Facebook encourages those interested to RSVP as soon as possible. Whether a participant already has a team or will attend as an individual, every participant needs to register independently.
