Google Announces Card Linked Offers API to Help Drive Customer Loyalty

Google has released a Card Linked Offers API that merchants can use to drive customer loyalty. The Google Card Linked Offers API, part of the Save to Android Pay API platform, allows merchants to drive customer loyalty by providing targeted offers to customers who save their loyalty card to Android Pay. Card Linked Offers are displayed to customers within the loyalty card view of Save to Android Pay.

The Save to Android Pay API makes it possible for merchants to showcase gift cards, loyalty programs, and other sales offers to customers who are Android users. Merchants add and manage these loyalty offers inside the Android Pay app. The merchant can then use the Card Linked Offers API to display existing offers within Android Pay loyalty card view making them easier for customers to discover.

Panera Bread is one of the first merchants that will be using the new Android Pay card linked offers capabilities nationally. Panera Bread customers who use MyPanera and save their loyalty card to Android Pay will see information about new menu items and store offers within Android Pay when they visit a Panera Bread store. Offers are redeemed when customers use their MyPanera account at checkout.

Google is also collaborating with Clover, a platform by First Data that allows merchants to accept credit cards, EMV chip, and contactless payments from customers. The upcoming integration of Android Pay smart tap with Clover APIs will allow developers to build apps for Android Pay users that feature new functionality such as tap for pickup and order ahead as well as gift card, coupon, and loyalty redemption capabilities.
