Swift for TensorFlow, a solution for building machine learning models, is now an open source project.
Originally created by Google, Swift for TensorFlow gives developers "the power of TensorFlow directly integrated into the Swift programming language."
According to the project page, which is hosted on Github, "We believe that machine learning tools are so important that they deserve a first-class language and a compiler."
TensorFlow is an open-source machine learning framework that Google released in 2015. Swift is a compiled programming language developed in 2014. In 2015 it was open sourced under the Apache 2.0 license. According to the official Swift.org website, Swift is "one of the fastest growing languages in history."
While Swift for TensorFlow is currently described as an early-stage research project that is not yet suitable for general use, the Swift for TensorFlow team at Google says it offers "a new and different way to use TensorFlow, opening new design opportunities and new avenues for solving existing problems."
It is inviting developers to contribute their feedback and get involved in development.
