Instagram Opens Ads API to Select Group of Marketing Partners

Instagram has opened the Instagram Ads API to a select group of marketing partners. The Instagram Ads API allows businesses to publish and manage targeted advertising campaigns on the Instagram photo-sharing network. Instagram marketing partners currently include 4C, Ampush, Brand Networks, Kenshoo, Nanigans, Olapic, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, SocialCode, and Unified. Instagram plans on expanding API access to many more marketing companies in the coming months.

Instagram launched its digital advertising platform in October 2013 to a small group of brands. The company has been working hard since the launch on improving the Platform by adding new digital ad formats, targeted advertising, call-to-action buttons, campaign management, analytics, and more. The Facebook-acquired photo-sharing network currently sees over 300M monthly active users and an average of over 70M photos posted every day. This level of active user volume offers tremendous revenue possibilities for those marketing companies selected to be Instagram Ads API partners.

Based on the press releases published by Instagram partners, there’s a lot of excitement for the Instagram Ads API and other features of the Instagram digital advertising platform. Here are just a few of the quotes included in press releases from Instagram partners.

“Having access to 300 million people who are passionate about community and connecting is an amazing opportunity for 4C and our clients,” said Dr. Alok Choudhary, Founder and Chief Scientist of 4C. “By applying our proprietary data science and affinity metrics to Instagram, we can ensure that brand advertisers create meaningful interactions with their most valuable audiences.”

“We strongly believe the next major advertising channel will be Instagram,” said Luis Sanz, Chief Operating Officer and Co-founder of Olapic. “Being able to create advertising that feels native to the platform experience is critical for success and Olapic offers a way to source engaging and authentic images from fans already on Instagram.”

Providing the Instagram Ads API along with other digital advertising tools is a huge step for the company and will allow the Instagram platform to be effectively monetized. Clearly there is a lot of excitement surrounding the Instagram digital advertising platform and the future of the Instagram advertising ecosystem appears to be very bright.
