Bitrix24, an enterprise collaboration, project management and social network platform provider, has announced the launch of its Bitrix24 REST API, which provides developers programmatic access to the cloud version of the Bitrix24 platform.
Bitrix24 is a cloud-based platform that provides enterprises and SMBs an online workspace for social collaboration, project management, video conferencing and other office tasks. There is also a self-hosted version of Bitrix24 available that includes additional features not available in the cloud version.
The new Bitrix24 REST API provides programmatic access to platform features and data items including CRM, social network groups (workgroups, projects), data storage (information blocks), notifications, tasks, users, departments, activity streams and calendars. Dmitry Davydov, Bitrix24 Chief Marketing Officer, tells ProgrammableWeb:
We've had an API for the self-hosted version of Bitrix24 for several years. But as more and more intranet, CRM and collaboration users move to the cloud, it was obvious that we need an API for the cloud version of Bitrix24 as well.
Developers can use the new API to create apps for the Bitrix24 marketplace and to build custom integrations and solutions that address specific business needs. It should be noted that if a developer would like to use the API to create an app for the Bitrix24 Marketplace, they have to become a partner first. The Bitrix24 partner program is free to join and does not have any annual fees.
Apps for Basecamp, Yammer, Zoho, MailChimp and Doc Designer have already been added to the Bitrix24 marketplace. Bitrix President and Co-Founder Dmitry Valyanov, states in a press release:We expect that by the end of the year we will have integration and migration apps for most, if not all, popular online business tools available to Bitrix24 users. But even more importantly, the new API lets Bitrix24 partners create custom and industry specific solutions so they can open new markets and offer their clients a much higher value service.
According to the press release, more than 120,000 companies have registered to use the Bitrix24 platform in less than two years. Each company has unique business needs and different requirements when it comes to project management, employee collaboration and workflows.
The availability of the new Bitrix24 REST API allows developers to build custom integrations and solutions that address the needs of nearly every type of business.
