Roambi applications can connect to online and offline information systems such as Microsoft Excel, Salesforce CRM and Google Spreadsheets. Santiago Becerra, Roambi Co-Founder and CEO, states for the press release that:

"Data of all sizes is breaking loose from the iron grip of on-premise databases and moving to the cloud. By bringing the Roambi experience to the cloud we are offering mobile workers in organizations of all sizes the ability to access and use critical business data whenever and wherever it makes sense. Roambi is at the nexus of three converging business trends: cloud computing, Big Data, and mobility. With the launch of Roambi Business we feel we are in a strong position to help our customer and partner network maximize business success while capitalizing on these technology trends."

According to the Roambi API FAQ, the Roambi API can be used to automate specific functions such as:

  • Transport formatted source (Excel, CSV, HTML) files into the Roambi File System (RFS)
  • Create new RBI files from an existing template
  • Refresh existing RBI files with data
  • File viewer rights for Users or Groups

The Roambi API is RESTful and responses are returned in JSON data format. However, responses that include extremely large numbers are returned in IEEE754 format. API calls are limited to "100 requests per minute per Access Token."

Riley Newman, Head of Analytics at Airbnb, is quoted in the press release as saying:

"Roambi Business is a big step forward for the data publishers and analysts supporting Roambi. User and content management is now much easier and more intuitive, and the introduction of the API has helped further streamline our automated processes that keep our Roambi views up to date."
