NPM Upgrades Enterprise JavaScript Toolset

NPM, a JavaScript tools provider, recently upgraded its npm Enterprise product to include new security, workflow, and other enterprise features. NPM Enterprise is a cloud-based set of tools that developers can use to build JavaScript stacks with increased security, compliance, and collaboration among teams.

"JavaScript is the most prevalent platform used in development today, and most enterprises depend on it heavily," NPM CEO, Bryan Bogensberger, commented in a press release. "But most of the tools those development teams use are woefully inadequate in terms of security, compliance, and quality of developer experience. Our flagship npm Enterprise product closes that gap, and gives them the professional-grade tools they deserve."

The first feature NPM added is package filtering. Package filtering allows admins to ensure that JavaScript code across an organization complies with the standards implemented by the company. The feature ensures compliance before the code enters the production pipeline to ensure that noncompliant code does not make it into operation.

Secondly, NPM enhanced single sign-on. The new SSO protocol has been expanded to work with more modern standards. The standards are no in place with the majority of enterprises. Examples include OpenID Connect and SAML.

Finally, NPM is streamlining collaboration with user management improvements. The improvements help users scale user onboarding. Such features can be used across teams and support thousands of users.
