PartsTech Launches an Auto Parts Purchasing API

PartsTech, an automotive ecommerce technology company, has announced the launch of a new Parts Ordering API.

By integrating the API into their shop management systems, auto shops will be able to more easily find auto parts, check prices, find local inventory, and make purchases without leaving their shop management systems.

The Parts Ordering API offers the ability to search for parts using keywords, Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) and license plates. Searches return local parts, including hard-to-find parts, along with high-resolution images and videos. The API's ecommerce component provides order confirmations, tracking and shipment notifications.

According to Erik St. Pierre, PartsTech's co-founder and COO, 80% of auto parts are purchased via phone and during working hours. "That process is long overdue for an upgrade," he stated. "“Our new API provides an ultra modern, intuitive user experience that helps drive shops’ efficiency and productivity."

PartsTech says that it is currently focused on commercial users but it is also encouraging developers of consumer-facing applications to explore its API.
