Safaricom Announces Increased API Efficiency within M-PESA Ecommerce Portfolio

Safaricom, a mobile and wireless provider in Kenya, announced more efficient APIs for its M-PESA ecommerce platform. The APIs will be available through the company's developer portal. The company anticipates the new APIs will cut down on the time needed to integrate Safaricom APIs with third party applications. Previously, integration was taking a few months, but the new APIs can be integrated in as little as 3 to 4 days.

"M-PESA provides a unique platform that enables thousands of businesses to leverage its capabilities to drive their growth," Safaricom CEO, Bob Collymore, commented in a press release. "The simplified onboarding process will enable both small and large businesses to integrate to M-PESA as a payment platform for their businesses with ease."

Through M-PESA, Safaricom offers a host of financial APIs. From transaction tracking and bill payment, to transaction simulation and validation, Safaricom's API portfolio is growing in functionality and efficiency. For a complete list of APIs, check out Safaricom's API Explorer.

With its updated API Strategy, Safaricom has completely moved to a RESTful API structure. An open Sandbox is available for testing, and complete documentation is available for each API. To get started,  sign up for an account and receive credentials.
